About 15 minutes drive from the villa is Martina Franca, a stunning baroque town. This is the largest of the Valle d’Itria towns and has a magnificent church towering over the central historical square, which is lined with many restaurants and bars.
The town has many festivals both religious and cultural.
If you are lucky enough you may be entertained by the local brass band on a warm and balmy summer evening.
At the end of July and beginning of August there is an opera festival which first started in 1974. The performances are held under the stars in the courtyard of the very beautiful Archducal Palace in the centre of the town.
The town is famous for its Sunday evening “La Passiagata”, which is an evening stroll where locals of all ages come out to meet friends and families and enjoy the atmosphere.
